Mark Irwin TKO’s Jose Solorio in Ring Challenge 15

My 24 year old son Mark Irwin won his first amateur boxing match on February 15, at the South Coast Martial Arts & Boxing Center in Costa Mesa.  Family and friends were on hand to cheer him on in his action packed bout.

There was not much dancing around as these two boxers began slugging it out from the opening bell.

A lot of punches were thrown by both fighters.  In the first round Mark twice stunned his opponent with solid punches to Solorio’s chin for two standing Eight Counts.  The second round was another slugfest with Mark connecting with more good punches.  In the third round his opponent took a third Eight Count and later in the third Mark again dazed his opponent causing the ref to end the fight.

Mark is studying Kinesiology in college where he was on the track team, has run triathlons, weight trains, does Mau Thai combat martial arts and is a boxing instructor at LA Boxing in Aliso Viejo where he also trains.

He is planning for his next fight in June, 2013.
